Topf Initiatives works with, and leads our clients though the design and implementation of our "Holistic Integrated Approach" to Safety,  Health and the Environmental excellence.

A Topf Initiative is designed to prevent accidents, injuries and incidents by eliminating behavioral risks. We utilize a team approach to improving safety performance and provide all employees with the the awareness, attitudes, behaviors and skills to manage and support themselves and others for continual improvement in performance.

Throughout the training initiative, client associates develop the ability to be self-observing and self-managing so that in the moment of choice - THEY CHOOSE SAFETY.

A Topf Initiative enhances and complements other safety programs, activities, and strategies by providing a context of responsibility and a variety of skills for managing critical safety behaviors and issues.

Our process contributes to a culture alignment within the organization to the extent that safety , health, and the environment becomes, as they should be a CORE VALUE... essential to personal safety, responsibility and productivity.

KEY CHARACTERISTICS OF A TOPF INITIATIVE

(click each section to learn more)

  • THE PROCESS INVOLVES EVERYONE

    • The objective is to develop a “We” instead an “Us” versus “Them” culture. By involving everyone, a new culture is formed that is characterized by improved communication, increased teamwork, and greater personal responsibility-a benefit to everyone. Moreover, these benefits apply to productivity, quality, and human relations, as well as safety, health and the environment. No one is left out to anchor the culture in the past.

  • THE PROCESS CO-EXISTS WITH OTHER SAFETY PROGRAMS

    • The Initiative focus is on the underlying “human mechanisms” that cause people to place themselves at risk, whether deliberate or not, and on how to change those risk-taking behaviors. Most companies do a good job in assuring basic compliance and safety fundamentals. TOPF moves employees from “knowing the right thing to do” to actually “doing the right thing”.

  • THE RESULTS ARE RAPID AND SUSTAINABLE

    • As all levels of employees are engaged early on in the process, changes in employee attitudes start immediately and are well advanced in less than 6 months.

  • OUR CLIENTS BECOME SELF-SUFFICIENT ON AN ON-GOING BASIS FOR CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT

    • Within 5-6 months, the Core Initiative is complete and the process is transitioning to internal facilitators and coordinators who will reinforce and sustain the learning process.

  • THE TRAINING IS ENGAGING TO EMPLOYEES AT ALL LEVELS

    • Unlike other training, the Initiative is both “cognitive” and “interactive”. Employees undergo a process of self-discovery as they discuss what their safety behaviors are, why they behave as they do, and what are the possible consequences. Through this process they achieve a “wake-up call”, whereby they understand their own actions and make a personal commitment and decision to change. Most importantly, the improvements are sustained through reinforcement via internal safety meetings meetings.
